(for doctors, ENT specialists) Can haveing enlarged tonsils...? (10 pts to the b
I have always had a really deep voice and I reall hate it, recently I found out that I have enlarged tonsils and adenoids and I've probably had them my entire life, could that be the cause for having a deep voice? If so will my voice sound normal after they are taken out?
Answer:

Probably not. Your voice isn't abnormal now and so won't be vastly different if you have a T&A. There will be a slight change in the timbre of your voice, that is, the resonance. But the depth will remain unchanged by this surgery. This is determined by the size & shape of your vocal cords. A T&A won't change that. Besides, if your pharyngeal and palatine tonsils aren't causing a medically recognized problem, there can be no ethical or insurance-sanctioned justification for excising them.
So, although I'm not a doctor I used to worked Head & Neck surgery and I hope you'll accept my answer.
